Brief

I trained in technical drawing in Spain before coming to SCAD. The cover of this portfolio says it plainly: these are the designs I could bring with me. The plates carry printed title blocks and are written in Spanish. I drew them by hand, six exercises to a sheet.

Process: from geometry to perspective

The plates start with constructions: ovals, tangent arcs, regular polygons. Then the dihedral system: point, line, plane, intersections, parallelism, perpendicularity and distances. Then views, sections, dimensioning and threads, each part next to a shaded isometric. The last block is perspective: isometric, cavalier and conical, built from the views of a part.

Outcome

Beside the plates, a set of freehand studies: transparency on glass solids in pencil, an interior in perspective, and a ballpoint car concept sheet with front, side, interior and wheel views labelled. Teacher corrections in red are still visible on the plates.

What this shows

Orthographic views, sections and dimensioning drawn by hand, before any software. That is the logic behind the 2D drawings I make from CAD. Going from three views to an isometric, and back, is also how I check a part in 3D.
