Brief

A single-lever basin faucet for IDUS 231 at SCAD, September to October 2025. I used a commercial chrome single-lever mixer as reference, then pushed the proportions lower and wider and gave it an open waterfall spout instead of a closed tube.

Process: sketch, Rhino, drawing

Pen sketches with hatching come first: a perspective and a side view. In Rhino I saved four model versions between 23 and 30 September. The form is a flat oval paddle lever on a short cylindrical cartridge neck with a collar, over a body that tapers to a deck-mount stem. The four-view sheet (top, isometric, front, side) draws hidden lines dashed. They show the cartridge dome inside the neck and the spout channel.

Outcome

KeyShot renders in brushed rose-copper, on a black marble basin, lit with an HDRI. Close-ups show the lever, the collar and the spout lip. The final design stays close to the pen sketch, so the idea survived the move to CAD.

What this shows

Orthographic views: turning a 3D model into a 2D drawing that shows what is behind the surface. Also surface control on a small object with tight curves. The drawing has no dimensions yet. The dimensioning work is in the technical drawing project.
