Brief

Project 2 of FOUN 110 (instructor Kent Knowles, SCAD Atlanta, October 2025) was a transportation diorama: a vehicle and the base it sits on. I worked from concept-car references and made two families of sketches, one with curved forms and one with square forms. Next to the car I sketched the stand, a road plate.

Process: Rhino for 3D printing

My own note in the process book says it: "Finally designing in 3D to 3D print with Rhino." So I split the car into a kit of parts. Body shell, chassis, six tyres, six rim hubs, a base plate and separate red accent strips. The body carries six vent holes and a slot, and the car runs on three axles with a diffuser-style underbody.

Outcome

The printed car sits on a painted road plate with black lane stripes. The underside shot shows the chassis with its layered surface and six black tyres. The part-kit render and the physical car are the same design, only one is on screen and the other is on the table. A short AI-animated clip puts the design in a city.

AI-animated from my design: the car drives through a futuristic city. Made with Google Veo; the city is not part of my project.

What this shows

Part split for fabrication: deciding where one object becomes several, so each piece can be made and then put together. It also shows the full path from sketch to CAD to a physical model. Tolerances and fits are not documented here.
